7 Days Old

You love to sleep being held. That is when you sleep your longest. Your longest stretch between feedings is typically about 4 hours at night shortly before we wake up in the morning. Then, you like to nurse pretty much every hour on the hour during the day with some extended two and sometimes even three hour breaks here and there.

You are a champion nurser! It literally takes you less than 15 minutes to nurse, and if I actually timed it, I think it would be closer to 10 minutes or less. Of course, that is probably because you only nurse on one boob at a time.

I don't think you are much of a fan of sleeping on your back. You sleep the longest when I lay you on your tummy. And, that is a big no-no! You are supposed to sleep "supine" as they call it. In other words, on your back!

You are a strong little booger! You were already lifting your head the day after you were born. But, I came to check on you today while you were sleeping on your tummy, and you moved your little head to rest on a different cheek.

6 Days Old

Just as the doctor predicted, your umbilical cord fell off early, early this morning (around 12:15 a.m. on Thursday) while Daddy was changing your diaper.

Before we climbed into bed for the evening, we had to replenish the diapers in our room by the Pack-n-Play and also on the changing table in your room. That means we officially went through two Pampers diaper packs from the hospital in 6 days. There were 20 diapers in each pack, so we used 40 diapers in 6 days!

5 Days Old

Your first wellness visit was today with Dr. Calk with Children's Medical Group at 2:00 p.m.

You are sleeping and nursing like a champ. Last night, I fed you at 12:30 a.m., 3:30 a.m., and 6:30 a.m. It is like clockwork! You are absolutely killing my right boob though. The pain is shocking when you nurse. I am reminded that nursing may actually be worse than childbirth because at least I know the pain of childbirth is going to end!

And, you sleep ALL the time, or so it seems. Your awake time is usually in the morning around 9-10 a.m. and in the evening around 8-9 p.m. This evening, you are wide awake at 11:30 p.m.

You are a one boob girl meaning you like to nurse off one boob at a time for each nursing session. As a result, during the day, you like to nurse pretty much every hour on the hour. But, you nurse very, very quickly, usually within 15 minutes. Very unlike your sister who took 45 minutes at a minimum. It seems like it took her just 45 minutes to figure out how to latch on.

You wore the cute outfit that Daddy bought for you from Target the other day to your doctor's visit. It is bright green with white polka dots and pink butterflies. Absolutely precious! He came home with it and said, "You can't send me shopping and expect me not to buy something for my girl."

This evening, you were intrigued by your Daddy's orange plaid shirt. He said you wouldn't stop staring at it.
